Thanks to Leite's Culinaria's site I found out today is National Peanut Butter Day. hmmm.. This believe paste it or not was introduced to me when I was already in college. The reason for that being I lived most of my childhood in Europe where Peanut butter is not as widespread as here in the States. Nutella was our to go spread as kids.
So in college I must admit I cannot recall who introduced me to that new paste, I tried it and I was not very excited about it and did not bother with it for a while until I met my husband who loves peanut butter with apples. What an odd combination I thought to myself. I did try that too and still not sold on it - meanwhile he makes fun of a tradition I grew up with which is cheese with banana!
I believe it was after we had our first child that I started buying and trying different type of peanut butter that I eventually found one I liked (more homemade type and not creamy and all but chunky).
Will I now eat peanut butter with apples? nope... still not my fave, but I do like it on bread and desserts. So to all out there Happy National Peanut Butter Day and let me know which way you like to eat your peanut butter. I am opened to suggestions and trying different things

I'm not sure why Americans tend to be so prejudiced about PB. If I know anyone open to it, it would be you! I love peanut butter on sweet potatoes and in my Thai sweet potato soup. It's good in curry dishes and PB sauce over broccoli is incredible! People screw up their faces and look at me like I'm nuts. Then I mention Thai or even Chinese dishes (like kung bao) that have peanuts or a peanut sauce and they acknowledge that, but I know they still think it is only good for grape jelly and white bread. What a shame.
Caron indeed. and you know I LOVE Thai and the peanut dishes they have. I will have to try on sweet potatoes and over broccoli. Actually as I am thinking of it... hmmm what about over endives? ohhh I could go for that I think. The mixture of sweet from PB with the tanginess of the endive.
